Vandal VST
Vandal Gets His VST
By Gina DeAlmeida
Vandal got into his 1st VST at Tracking Club of Massachusetts in November 2025. This was going to be our “let’s see what we need to work on” test. There were no expectations for this young man to perform as an adult. After all, he was only a 1.5 years old (20 months) Wild Child!
We were directed to the start of our track. Off he went like a bullet! Nearly taking me off my feet and too fast for me to pick up my start article. The first turn was such a very open turn that the 1st 2 legs seemed like 1 very long leg (300 yds). We crossed a few walkways, 2 driveways and found an article before making 2 right turns which headed out into the parking lot towards a building. Continuing his quest, Vandal proceeded into an underground parking garage. It looked like we were headed straight out through the other side, BUT NO… in the middle of the garage, Van made a left turn and proceeded out a 4 ft opening into another parking lot.
MOT under a building WOW! Then another article! After 2 more right turns, Vandal made his way to the edge of the blacktop. It was a piece of metal that grabbed his attention. I then saw the the most amazing #4 stuck to it.
OMG… HE PASSED!
My wild child passed his VST.
What an amazing day we had. Now, on to the TDX.
I’m so proud of his tracking skills & I hope to continue on to complete all 4 AKC tracking titles.
To be honest, I don’t even remember driving home that day. 😄🐾
